Is Express Entry an Immigration Program?

There is a lot of confusion about what Express Entry is and if it is an actual immigration program. This article will attempt to explain what Express Entry is how it relates to immigration.

Express Entry is a ranking system used to determine the best candidates for popular immigration programs such as the Federal Skilled Workers (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST). It has now also been implemented in some popular Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP).


Application Management System

Express Entry is an Application Management System for skilled workers. It is used to rank applicants so the Canadian government can select the best candidates for permanent residence and fast track their applications.

You must qualify for one of the immigration programs through their individual selection criteria's and then submit your application through Express Entry for consideration. Express Entry is not an immigration program in itself.

Find out if you’re eligible for one or more of the immigration programs that allows Express Entry processing:

  • Federal Skilled Workers (FSW)

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • Federal Skilled Trades (FST)

  • Some Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)
